Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC)
Limbe is the seat of the agro-industrial giant of the nation, the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC). The beauty of its plantations and abundance of natural resources rates the city as one of the best for investment in the whole Republic. The products of the CDC range from palm plantations, rubber, banana etc.

The Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC) created in 1947 owns 100.000 hectares of land for their plantation. It has cash crop holdings comprising 15.000 hectares of palm trees, 25.ooo hectares of rubber plants, 10.000 hectares of banana plants. It exploits only 40% of the land at their disposal. Much of the land which was opened up in 1947 is now in the heart of all major cities of Fako Division. The remaining 60% is not at the disposal of the local populations.

CDC is the largest employer after the State, with an employment figure of 15.000 workers. Of this figure, 13.000 are directly recruited by CDC while some 2.000 are recruited by CDC/DELMONTE.

There is also the existence of the only National Oil Refining Company in the Republic, (SONARA),
which refines crude oil, and also produces butane. Limbe is a port city.

SONARA was created in 1976, and inaugurated on 16 May 1981 as a refining company to refine oil and its derivatives (diesel, petrol, kerosene, bitumen, butane gas) SONARA has the capacity of producing about 2million tons per annum of fuel and sells to the national and international market. SONARA employs over 700 workers.
