The Administrative Officer for Fako, accompanied by the G.D. Motanga and Chief Ekum Samuel celebrating (arrosé) with bottles of champagne.
The Limbe City Council (LCC), under the Government Delegate, Motanga
Andrew M. presented to the Limbe population newly-acquired heavy duty
road maintenance equipment. The occasion which took place at the
Grandstand of the Manga Williams Avenue was chaired by the
Administrative Officer for Fako in the person of Mr. Bona Ebengué
François. Mr. Bona arrived the ceremonial venue at 4:30 p.m. and was
welcomed by the Government Delegate and Mayors of Limbe I, II and III
councils. Immediately he was ushered to the reserved spot where the
audience and himself sung the national anthem. After the SDO took
his seat, the Government Delegate moved to the rostrum to present his
opening address. The visibly happy Delegate, in a celebrative mood,
presented the road equipment to the Public. They include a front head
loader, a grader and a 20 ton truck, which cost the City Council
authorities a whooping sum of CFA 297 million F. He intimated that the equipment
were just three months old since they were manufactured in August 2011.
The City boss stated to the hearing of all that no neighbourhood
will be left out in LCC's ambitious road development plan and called on
the sub divisional councils to work in close collaboration with the
technical services of LCC to ensure that this dream comes true. He
called on the judicious handling of the equipment and promised to met
out sanctions to any one abusing this council property. The Delegate
mentioned the Cassava Farms T-Complex road whose tarring will soon be
completed in a matter of days. He also used this opportunity to announce
the tarring of the Middle Farms to Comprehensive road and recuperating
of the Towe road project as the next plan of the LCC. It should be
noted that ever since the Mr. Motanga was appointed Government Delegate,
so much has been done as far as infrastructure are concerned. The city
has witnessed and is still experiencing a real irreversible
transformation. The SDO, in his response, said he was pleased to be
part of the happy ceremony but regretted the fact that not all the stakeholders he expected to see were present. He congratulated the GD on this
achievement, which are part of the major accomplishments programme of
the Head of State, Paul Biya. He called on the council authorities to handle
the equipment sustainably to make all happy. Furthermore, he
called on the projects in the City to be given priority before any
other ones and prescribed community interests to overrule personal
interests. The climax of the ceremony was during the celebration
proper which involved the popping of the champagne. Three personalities
, the SDO, Government Delegate and Head of Coastal Chiefs (Chief Ekum
Samuel) led the cue. They moved happily from one equipment to other
pouring champagne on them as a sign of celebration. The drivers of
these equipment were very busy displaying the capabilities of these
equipment to the admiration of the public. The SDO personally entered
and manipulated the front head loader to the acclamation of the
public. The occasion was graced by Administrators, the Constituted
Corps, Chiefs, Senior Councillors of LCC, Service Heads of Limbe City
Councils, dance groups and the public. The ceremony ended with a lot of
animation from dance groups and merry-making. LCC O
